TetraSummer is coming to a close. It’s sad but true. But while the hottest days of summer are most likely behind us, that doesn’t mean it’s too late to cool off with some delicious ice cream. Obama Kush / Yes Pecan From Ben and Jerry’s
Not everyone knows this about President Obama, but as a teenager in Hawaii he worked at Baskin Robbins. Oddly enough, he’s hated ice cream ever since. That didn’t stop Ben and Jerry’s from giving our former prez own flavor, though. Yes Pecan was named for Obama’s famous campaign slogan, “Yes we can.”
Most people do know—or assume, at least—that Barry O used to indulge in a bit of mary jane. Odds are he’s never smoked his eponymous indica strain, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying some. Grab a pint, load a bowl, and remember the way things used to be.
Old School / Oregon Honey Rocky Road From Salt & Straw
When it comes to ice cream flavors few are as classic as Rocky Road. Regardless of how you feel about it now, everyone used to chow down on rocky road as a kid, making a mess of chocolate and marshmallows. It’s an old school kind of flavor.
That said, the name isn’t the only reason we paired these two together. Old School is a great CBD strain with a nearly 1:1 ratio of CBD and THC. Here in Oregon we love our Marionberries. Every summer as the marionberry milkshakes, pies and ice creams start to roll out, Oregonians across the state rejoice. While you’re at it, you might as well match that marionberry color to the color of your herb by scooping up some Purple Dream. Don’t worry, if sativa is more your flavor then we’ve got something for you too. Like Green Crack, Oregon Mint Flake ice cream from Ruby Jewel has an instantly recognizable, vibrant green color. Add in some chocolate flakes and you have the perfect balance of sweet and minty.
Green Crack is similarly well balanced. A strong sativa, just a few hits will give you a serious head high before settling you into an easygoing euphoric state. While any strain can probably pair well with any ice cream, these two seem particularly well fit for each other.
